The Foundation Of Your Belief System

YOU HAVE A BELIEF SYSTEM. Everyone does.
You know that you were born. You know that you have not always been on Earth, and you know that there will come a time when you will no longer be on Earth.

Leading on from that, you have a set of beliefs – whether you consciously ponder them or not – of who you are and why you are here on Earth. This impacts how you behave, what you pursue, and ultimately, what you will become. My question for you today is this:

What is the foundation of your Belief System?

A foundation is obviously the substance on which something – in this case, your life – is built.

I recently had a discussion with someone very near and dear to me who does not have the same beliefs that I do. He indirectly highlighted something very important during our chat. He told me that when he was very little, he had an encounter. He explained the encounter to me and how it had marked him and consequently his life. In essence, it become the foundation for what he believes about himself and the world today.

There is nothing inherently wrong with having an encounter. What is dangerous, however, is using an encounter as a foundation on which your belief system – and therefore your life – is built. This is because not all encounters originate from the same source, and Truth is absolute. It cannot be subjective, or it is not Truth. And if I build a belief system on an encounter that I had, and you build a different belief system on a different encounter that you had – where is the Truth?

For me, my foundation is the Word of God. It is infallible, living, active and sharper than a double-edged sword. And Jesus Christ – who is alive today and who we can and do commune with – is the Word made flesh.

I implore you to investigate which foundation you have chosen – or passively accepted – and are currently building your life upon.
If it is not the Word of God – I encourage you to change that today.
You will find no surer foundation. And you will find no Truth outside of it – for Christ is Truth Himself.
