THERE IS AN 'ADMIN SIDE' to absolutely everything. Accepting this fact is part of growing up. But if there's one thing I'm learning it's this: you can choose what to focus on.
If you want to have fun baking, you need to shop beforehand – and there are dishes to do when you’re done. Let's say there's an overseas trip you're after - well then there are flights to book and bags to pack. If owning a business is your plan, there is LITERAL admin that you must do. There is a less glamorous and more ‘boring’ side to every single job.
But here’s the thing: We get to choose what to focus on.
We can despair over the dishes – or enjoy every bite of dessert. We can get irritated sitting in the plane's middle seat or we can breathe in every second of the holiday. We can cry over paperwork or we can praise the LORD for our income – and the freedom to enjoy it.
The facets of our lives which feel monotonous and exasperating are the ones begging us to SIT DOWN, re-shift our FOCUS, and ask ourselves the following:
- WHO am I doing this for?
- WHY did I start this in the first place?
- If I choose to PERSEVERE in this, what will I have achieved by the end?
- What do I LOSE if I give up?
If there’s a dream in your heart – your ministry, a spouse or a holiday – please do count the cost. But don’t give up on cake for fear of the dishes. 🍰
